As a cost-saving measure, and in accordance with HUD regulations, the Fort Dodge Housing Agency will reduce its Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) payment standards to 90% of the applicable Fair Market Rent (FMR) effective October 1, 2026.

This change will be applied immediately to:

• New admissions and move-ins effective on or after October 1, 2026

• Participants requesting a unit transfer with an effective date on or after October 1, 2026

 

For current HCV participants, HUD regulations provide protection from decreases in payment standards. 

 

Therefore, a reduction in payment standard amounts will not be applied earlier than two years after the effective date of the decrease in payment standard, and generally will take effect at the family's second regular reexamination following the effective date of the decrease.
